Swimming tips for weight loss are sought after by many people that are looking to lose weight by doing an enjoyable form of exercise. Here at Itex Mall Health & Fitness, we agree that this is an excellent form of exercise and one that anyone can do - even if you can’t swim, you can learn and it’s easy.
So what are our top swimming tips for weight loss?
- First, find a swimming pool close to home
- If you can’t swim, enroll in classes at the pool (don’t be embarrassed, plenty of people can’t swim)
- If you have friends that want to accompany you that’s great. The more the merrier
- Set yourself a timetable of how often you will swim and stick to it, say three times a week
- Start slowly if you haven’t done this for a while
- Choose a swimming stroke that is easy for you. Breast stroke is one many people like doing
- Start with swimming one length of the pool at a pace that is comfortable
- Each time you go, increase the number of lengths you do
- As you become able to swim more lengths, try introducing different strokes for one or more lengths, such as crawl, sidestroke, backstroke etc
- After every set of lengths, spend some time enjoying the pool as well - its not just a workout!
- After each swim, spend time to relax and eat a light snack and drink water to rehydrate
Ok, they’re pretty basic swimming tips for weight loss, but they are sensible and they make the process much nicer. When you can swim with some friends, it make the process easier as you introduce a little friendly competition and you can all have some fun afterwards.
Enjoy!
